The stories behind each piece are just as important as the artwork itself.  Please see some of the gorgeous stories below that clients have kindly allowed me to share with you.

LBD_ Texan Badge

Texan Sherifs Badge

LBD had the great fortune to get to work with a fantastic client all the way from Texas. They actually saw my work from The Block 2016 and commissioned me for a bespoke LBD piece.

An old Texan Sherifs badge was sent to me from Texas and after working on the piece I noticed how much detail was in the back of the badge.  It turns out this badge was made out of an old Indian peso coin, quite a rarity Im told.

So both sides became the hero and were produced for different rooms.

Nan's collection of beautiful buttons

My Nana absolutely loved sewing and knitting but we use to always get them out of her kit and play shop" with them. The buttons were used as money/currency.

Gorgeous Father's Day gift

I love my Dad. We don't see eye to eye on much however on the golf course, this common interest is easily the best time we spend together.

The competition of playing against each other and the banter that comes with this is great fun even though sometimes I have to let him win.

I wanted to give him something this Father's Day that wasn't the usual socks and jocks.  Samantha at Little Big Deal worked on the concept of golf as "our" happy place and came up with this.

Thanks Little Big Deal for helping me to say so much without having to say a thing.

Bauer Camera

Memories are what makes life most interesting and valued. This movie camera captured many of my younger days.

It represents a childhood with holidays at Aspendale and Erskine House - Lorne. Growing up as a child in Lansdowne Rd, East St Kilda.

Dad would love nothing more than to have a camera - movie or still to capture our youth on holidays or at home.

Embedded within the metal frame of the camera, or the celluloid of the film, is a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Earth Auger

My Great Grandfather Herb Jarrett invented the Jarrett Earth Auger which is still used today by farmers and anyone needing a post hole in soil. Its stocked everywhere and still bears our family name.
Grant my Grandfather turned it into a family business and My Father worked along side him for 10 years. My Dad hated this kind of work, mostly because it was boring and involved stifling working conditions in a tin roof factory.
This replica of it was made by Guthrie & Co and it was presented to my Grandfather Grant on his retirement.
I guess its the only piece I have that ties 3 generations of men together and it means as much to me as it does to my Dad.

Mopar Lighter

Memory is the only way I can say hello to my best friend that has been gone in this life for many years, but never in spirit. My best friend is my grandfather, and I hope he is enjoying the afterlife. A wise man once told me that having sentimental links to physical objects can be a fruitless endeavor in some ways. However, this lighter that he earned for services rendered is a small token of the man I love. It helps me to remember him and cherish his impact on my life when so much seems to fall into the past. I try to live by his example, to greet each day with lightness in my heart, a joke on my lips and a smile for everyone to share. He was a great man and i miss him so much. I only hope i do his memory justice, as my memory of him does me.

Rowing Medal 1994

I received this piece on my 40th birthday and was completely blown away by how it looks and makes me feel.

In 1994, I rowed in a crew where we won bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. It was the pinnacle of my sporting career and something I am most proud to have earned.

This artwork reminds me that I am capable of achieving what I want when I commit myself to a task. It also makes me reflect on friends, experiences, challenges and achievements that were all part of the journey.

To be able to see this every day rather than it be a distant memory is just awesome and something I am so grateful for.

Cookie Jar

This bowl really does represent my Nan, or really perhaps its contents do.

My Nan always had this 70’s glass bowl filled with colourful lollies.  Upon entering her house it was always a race to see who could get to the bowl first.  We waited patiently, like a dog for Nan’a approval to dive into it.  She never said no.

I think the reliability of the lolly bowl was something that contributed to making me feel safe.  It was a constant in my life and something that never changed. Little else in my life was like this as a kid.

Watch clock for The Block 2016 TV show

It was so great to be invited by contestants Karlie and Will to produce an epic large scale piece for their living room.

I had only 24 hours to complete the task so when the judges loved it, well it was all worth it.

American Bowling ball

My Father’s Bowling Ball

When I was growing up, one of my fondest memories was watching the cricket with my Dad. He would tell me all about the game, how it was played and who was playing. But this was nothing compared to how excited he got when the ten pin bowling would come on during the lunch break.

He loved ten pin bowling and when he spoke about how they played, his face would light up. He would always pull out his bowling ball and show me his style.

When he took us bowling, he would bring his ball with him.

I never really shared his enthusiasm for the game however I know how much it meant to him and I always loved how his ball looked like the earth.

It is an endearing and enduring part of childhood.

Collection of Grandma's ring.

Collection of Grandma's ring.

I really wanted a piece of art that truly represented both sides of my family. The idea of having all three rings was really important to me so that I could capture something that was truly genuine and authentic from both my nana and babcia. They may not be the most expensive or glamorous rings but it represents them and my memories of them always wearing the rings (and even my sister and I arguing over who gets my babcias ring!!) now I don't need to worry as I have it frozen in time.
